Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  3. Step 2: Cream the Butter and Sugar
  4. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with the brown sugar. Use an electric mixer for a fluffy and light mixture, essential for achieving the soft texture of the cookies.
  5. Step 3: Add the Eggs and Maple Syrup
  6. Crack in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Pour in the maple syrup, stirring until the batter is well combined and smells wonderfully aromatic.
  7. Step 4: Mix the Dry Ingredients
  8. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the cookies tender.
  9. Step 5: Scoop and Space
  10. Use a cookie scoop or a heaping tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Space them about two inches apart to allow for spreading during baking.
  11. Step 6: Bake and Cool
  12. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
